How We Help: The Services We Provide
About F.A.C.E. Addiction Maryland:
The Family Advocates Coalition to End Addiction in Maryland (F.A.C.E. Addiction Maryland) supports Maryland’s network of peer founded and operated community-based organizations that provide direct services to those struggling with or recovering from addiction and their families, and that serve as a resource for education and awareness in their communities.
What We Accomplish Together:
Awareness & Education: We are at the forefront in raising awareness of Maryland’s addiction and overdose epidemic, and in educating communities about this healthcare crisis.
Family / Peer Support: We know that the number one protective factor in ensuring recovery for a family member struggling with addiction is family support. We support the caregivers of a loved one struggling with substance use by offering educational workshops, one-to-one family peer coaching, and positive communication training.
Family Bereavement Support: Family members, who are grieving the death of a loved one due to an overdose or substance-related cause, often seek emotional support and healing from others who have shared their same experience –coping with their loved one’s ultimately fatal substance use.
System Navigation: We assist individuals and family members with locating and accessing treatment and other recovery resources.
Court Advocacy: We facilitate diversion from incarceration to treatment by providing information on treatment alternatives to members of the justice system.
Naloxone Training: We provide information on where to obtain Naloxone in local communities throughout the state to ensure that it gets into the hands of those who need it most – the friends and family members of loved ones at risk of overdose.
Policy: As individuals and family members with ‘lived experience’, we know what works and what doesn’t, and we are a vital and invaluable voice at the policy table.
Treatment Scholarships: Ensuring that individuals get the support they need when they need it can save a life. We work toward closing funding gaps for those in need.
