F.A.C.E. Addiction Maryland serves individuals, families, and policy makers, who seek solutions to substance use problems.
The voice of those who actually utilize Maryland’s ‘Substance-Use Disorder’ ‘Continuum of Care’ is vastly under-represented when it comes to developing policy and programming that is designed to benefit them –while service providers in the treatment industry / medical community have long occupied the driver’s seat at the policy table. However, those with a vested interest in profits do not always represent the best interests of their consumers.
We, at F.A.C.E. Addiction Maryland, seek to resolve this imbalance by ensuring that:
- consumers of treatment services have access to clear, reliable and unbiased data in order to make choices which are best for them, and
- that they are able to inform policy which impacts them.
When consumers and family members are educated about their options, they are better able to negotiate for a higher quality of care, expanded treatment opportunities, and healthcare policy which meets their needs.
