What We Do

Our Services

From peer and family support specialists and legal counsel to treatment providers and navigators, our boots on the ground are there for you 24/7. You are not alone. Let us help you find the coach you need and ensure your loved one has the best possible chance to survive and thrive.

Awareness & Education

We provide support to grassroots community-based organizations at the forefront in raising awareness of Maryland’s addiction and overdose epidemic, and in educating their communities about this healthcare crisis. We organize local events, visit schools, utilize social media, engage the press, and participate in other outreach activities throughout Maryland.

We provide educational materials, data-driven reports, policy briefs, informational workshops, and training to individuals, families, policy makers, peer support specialists, and others. (link to products)

Family Peer Support

We know that the number one protective factor in ensuring recovery for an adolescent or young adult with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is family support. We connect family members to Family Peer Support groups that provide opportunities to connect with others to share coping strategies, offer emotional support, and discuss solutions.

We support family members caring for a loved one with SUD by offering educational workshops, one-to-one parent peer coaching, and positive communication training based on the Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) model.

Family Peer Bereavement Support

We connect family members who are grieving the death of a loved one with Bereavement Support groups that focus specifically on overdose death. We know that this support is often critical in helping parents or siblings cope with their loss and to heal emotionally.

Service Navigation

We assist individuals and family members with locating and accessing treatment. Many individuals caught in the grip of addiction are unaware of the treatment options available to them or how to access them. There is no single path to recovery, and individuals in need of treatment and/or their parents seeking treatment on their behalf are typically in crisis. They find themselves overwhelmed with where to begin in the often confusing system of care.

Court Advocacy

We facilitate diversion from incarceration to treatment, inform judges and legal counsel on alternatives to incarceration, support defense attorneys by providing expert opinion, and serve as a link between the treatment provider and the justice system. Until our society fully embraces the idea that SUD is a treatable disorder – not a punishable crime, our family members needing healthcare services will continue to be inappropriately funneled into correctional services instead.

Naloxone Training

We provide information on where to obtain Naloxone in local communities throughout the state to ensure that it gets into the hands of those who need it most – the friends and family members of loved ones at risk of overdose.

Consumer Advocacy

We work with policy makers –providing the grassroots’ perspective on policy that impacts our lives. As individuals and family members with ‘lived experience’, we know what works and what doesn’t, and we are a vital and invaluable voice at the policy table.

We conduct research and write informed, science-based, data-driven reports, briefs and testimony to influence policy. We also keep our members abreast of legislative initiatives and policy proposals via timely blogs and action alerts.

Treatment Scholarships

We connect those who are unable to pay for residential recovery with state grants, private foundations and other funding sources. Some individuals feel that they need the support that a recovery residence provides, but are unable to pay the initial entrance fee. Ensuring that they get the support they need when they need it can save a life.
